Circus 1903 @ The Royal Festival Hall on the Southbank
December 19, 2021
With the success of The Greatest Showman in recent years there has been a resurgence of interest in all things Circus. Taking us back more than 100 years, experience all the thrills and daredevil entertainment of a turn-of-the-century circus when CIRCUS 1903 returns to the Southbank Centre this Christmas!
In town for just 3 weeks, sensational puppetry from the award-winning team behind War Horse puts elephants back in the ring as never seen before, alongside a huge cast of the most unique, jaw-dropping and dangerous acts from all four corners of the globe. From strong men to contortionists, acrobats to musicians, knife throwers and much more, CIRCUS 1903 will amaze, captivate, and transport audiences of all ages to the mesmerising Golden Age of circus.
All this entertainment is packaged into a show with a gorgeous vintage feel and there’s great news if you’re lucky enough to have experienced the thrill of CIRCUS 1903 already: there are new acts included for 2021.
CIRCUS 1903 is suitable for families, however we do ask you to promise us that you won’t try to recreate any of the more dangerous stunts at home; no matter how tempted you are!
With the matinee performance starting at 3pm we will leave Dorking at 10.30am with a view to arriving in London at about midday. This will give people the chance to grab a bite to eat and to enjoy the Christmas Markets which are traditionally held on the Southbank each year, right outside the Royal Festival Hall. Lunch could be taken in the Skylon restaurant within the Royal Festival Hall where pre-booking is advised or alternatively there is plenty of selection in and around the Southbank, just a few yards from the coach drop-off and Royal Festival Hall.
On our way home we can marvel at London by night at Christmas with many hotels, shops and streets adorned with lights and decorations.
