Cabaret
March 6, 2024

The Kit Kat Club has taken over the Playhouse Theatre, making way for the electrifying musical, Cabaret. The marginalised have staked a claim, the artists have taken over, filled their container and found their community.
One of the most successful musicals of all time, Cabaret features the songs Wilkommen, Don’t Tell Mama, Mein Herr, Maybe This Time, Money and of course, the title number itself. It has music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb and a book by Joe Masteroff, based on the play by John Van Druten and stories by Christopher Isherwood.
‘In a time when the world is changing forever, there is one place where everyone can be free. This is Berlin. Relax. Loosen up. Be yourself. Here we sing, we dance, we love, we live, we drink, we forget. Come hear the music play.’

Taking you back to 1920’s Berlin, the Playhouse Theatre has been transformed and this revival of a classic has received universal acclaim and 5* reviews across the board. Nominated for 11 Olivier awards in 2022 it went on to win seven, a record for any revival. In addition to Best Musical Revival were the awards for all four acting categories, the first production of any kind to sweep the board.
With the theatre’s recent refurbishment, bespoke for this production, it seats just 550 people, offering the most intimate of experiences. As such tickets are still in great demand. Whilst originally the prices were as sky high as the adoration for the production, they have recently introduced a group rate. Although still more expensive than most West End shows, you might just decide it is worth it. People who have been, tell me it most definitely is!
