Antwerp is Belgium’s second city and its colourful Christmas Market is held in the picturesque old town centred on the Grote Markt (main square) and spreading over to fill the surrounding maze of mediaeval streets.
But, aside from its Christmas Market, Antwerp offers a marvellous array of shopping opportunities and a fantastic range of restaurants, cafes and bars, many of which stay open late into the night.
We would further add that Antwerp boasts some great cultural attractions and world class museums & galleries.
The 4* Hyllit Hotel
The 4* Hyllit is a deluxe, business class hotel located just off the famous Keyserlei in the heart of Antwerp and so very handy for main shopping streets, Christmas Market and Antwerp’s lovely old town.
As for the bedrooms, all offer a very high level of comfort, multichannel TVs and free wifi. The Hyllit also boasts an indoor pool for which there is an additional €7 per night. Breakfast is a continental style buffet.
The Itinerary
Friday: After leaving Dorking at 06.30 the coach drives to Antwerp to arrive by mid-late afternoon, allowing for a comfort stop en route. After checking in at your city centre hotel, the remainder of the day is free. The shops will stay open until 19.00, and the Christmas market until 21.00. You will also find that Antwerp offers a great range of restaurants, cafes and bars.
Saturday: Today is completely free for shopping & sightseeing.
Sunday: Departing the hotel after breakfast the coach starts the journey home. En route to Calais the coach will detour for an extended lunch / shopping break in the historic city of Bruges which will also be hosting its colourful Christmas Market when you visit. From here the coach will drive back to Calais. The anticipated time of arrival back at the Dorking Halls is 21.00.
