Dinner and Theatre The Mill at Sonning

January 16, 2025

With much of the original structure retained, this 18th Century Flour Mill has been converted into a renowned Dinner Theatre. Patrons enjoy a fresh home-cooked meal – with not a microwave in sight! – before watching the performance in the 215 seat air-conditioned auditorium.

Pre-dinner drinks with a view of The Thames or watching the working Waterwheel in the bar, is an added treat.

Beginning in 2018 we have, every year since, enjoyed, what has become, a very popular feature of the Sonning programme, the Winter musical revival. For our 2025 visit, we are treated to Irving Berlin’s classic Broadway musical, White Christmas.

Based on the beloved film, this heartwarming show follows two World War II veterans. Now a successful showbiz duo, Bob and Phil are on the lookout for a new act. On meeting singing sisters Betty and Judy they are immediately smitten. When the four wind up performing a gig together at a remote Vermont ski resort, they discover that the hotel is owned by the boys’ old army commander. But the place is on the verge of bankruptcy thanks to an unseasonal lack of snow.

Can the talented foursome transform the lodge’s fortunes in time for Christmas? And will the snow start to fall? Filled with so many memorable songs including “Blue Skies“; “Sisters“; “How Deep is The Ocean” – and of course “White Christmas“.

Having previously won ‘UK’s Most Welcoming Theatre’, we are assured our usual first-class experience enjoying a home-cooked 2 course meal before the show followed by tea or coffee.
