Having been asked if I could include the musical Hadestown on one of our trips, I’m thrilled to offer our first opportunity to see this multi award-winning show. Hadestown, the acclaimed Broadway musical phenomenon by singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and director Rachel Chavkin has been wowing audiences at the Lyric Theatre in the West End since transferring direct from Broadway in February 2024. ‘An epic celebration of music, togetherness and hope’ (Forbes), Hadestown was nominated for 14 Tony Awards®, winning 8 including Best Musical and Best Original Score. It was also the recipient of the Grammy Award® for Best Musical Theatre Album.

Based on the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, Eurydice, a starving young girl, goes to work in a hellish industrial version of the Greek underworld, to escape poverty and the cold. Her poor singer-songwriter lover, Orpheus, comes to rescue her. A deeply resonant and defiantly hopeful theatrical experience, Hadestown invites you to imagine how the world could be.
