Ballet Shoes – Matinee Performance
The acclaimed National Theatre production of Ballet Shoes transfers to Sadler’s Wells for a ‘strictly’ limited run, starring Anton Du Beke (Strictly Come Dancing) as Great Uncle Matthew.
Adapted for the stage by Kendall Feaver and directed by Katy Rudd (The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, Nanny McPhee), this truly ‘Spectacular’ (The Guardian) reimagining of Noel Streatfeild’s beloved novel breathes fresh life into the classic story while staying true to its heart.
In a crumbling house full of dinosaur bones and fossils, three adopted sisters – Pauline, Petrova and Posy – are learning who they are and dreaming about what they want to be. Under the watchful eyes and guidance of their new guardians and some unlikely lodgers, they fight to pursue their individual passions; but in a world that wasn’t built for women with big ambitions, can they forge a future, keep their family together, and even learn a dance or two along the way?
Having been nominated for three Olivier Awards in 2025, including Best New Entertainment or Comedy Play and Outstanding Musical Contribution, we were lucky enough to take a small group to see Ballet Shoes earlier this year at the National Theatre. Proving a great success, don’t miss this second chance to see the acclaimed production, this time starring the charming Anton du Beke.
You will notice below that it is a 2nd price seat that is included. This is because they don’t discount any of the other seats. We have our usual allocation in the stalls, directly behind the top price seats, which has served us very well on all our previous visits. With the continued popularity of our Sunday matinee trip to Sadler’s Wells, and with this being a strictly limited season, do book early to be sure of a place.
Whilst no star’s appearance can be guaranteed, Anton du Beke is currently scheduled to perform when we visit.
