Dinnerladies – with free time in Eastborne
Coach pick up, time to spend in Eastbourne, matinee performance and return coach.
Our theatre trips which also include free time in the town or city we are visiting, are proving increasing popular. Having visited the Congress Theatre in Eastbourne some years ago, we return in the Spring of 2027 for a new stage-adaption of Victoria Wood’s much-loved classic TV sitcom dinnerladies.
Having run for two acclaimed series and 16 episodes between 1998 and 2000, the new stage play has been written by Beth and Emma Kilcoyne and will be directed by double Olivier-award winner Sean Foley. Star of stage and screen, Les Dennis has been announced as Stan in the touring production, with the full cast yet to be revealed.
Dinnerladies takes place in the canteen of a fictional Manchester factory, HWD Components, and follows the lives, friendships and workplace dramas of the staff and regulars who gather there every day. The stage show will reunite audiences with the much-loved characters of Bren, Tony, Dolly, Anita, Jean, Twinkle, Philippa and Stan in a funny and affectionate take on working class life in Britain.
The Victoria Wood Estate said: “We are delighted to be bringing the joy of Victoria Wood’s much-loved classic dinnerladies back to the nation after more than 25 years. We hope that this new stage adaptation by Beth and Emma Kilcoyne and directed by Sean Foley – featuring a story inspired by the original TV series – will take audiences straight back to the delights of the canteen and characters they grew to love.”
Leaving at 9am from Dorking and picking up at Capel, North Holmwood and Horsham en-route if required, we will hope to arrive in Eastbourne at about 11am. With the performance starting at 2.30pm that leaves everyone plenty of time to take a stroll through the town and along the seafront whilst also finding somewhere suitable for lunch. We will leave straight after the performance at approx. 5pm with a view to being back at Dorking for around 7pm, traffic depending.
