Warners @ Alvaston Hall, Cheshire

Following our popular Warners short breaks over recent years, this Festive season we head to Alvaston Hall, Cheshire. I have had many requests to visit Liverpool and, among other things, staying at Alvaston Hall gives us the chance to do just that. As this is fairly short notice, please see the details below and let me know as soon as you can, should you wish to join us. Demand is always great for our Warners breaks, especially for the single rooms.

Famous for their nightly entertainment, daily leisure activities and with a great reputation for food and customer service, Warners has been entertaining its guests for 90 years, with all their properties becoming adult only in 1994. Our 4 night / 5 day stay at Alvaston Hallwill see us benefit from all the usual things you would expect on a Warner Leisure Hotels break. Whilst precise details might change slightly, we expect to visit the beautiful town of Stratford-upon-Avon en route to the hotel, and we will come home via an extended lunch stop in the foodie capital of the country, Melton Mowbray, on the Friday. In addition, there will be three optional excursions for anyone that wants to take advantage of them. Our excursions are left as optional as I know some people may have been to the area before and may not wish to join us on all, or any, of them, but choose to make the most of the excellent facilities at the hotel instead.

One of our optional excursions will be a day in Chester. There will be free time in Chester. There may be the chance of a boat ride on the River Dee and/or a walking tour of Chester itself, if there would be enough interest. We also plan on visiting Liverpool on two occasions whilst away. One day would explore Liverpool through its prolific music history, whilst another would take a wider view of the city, it’s people, culture, architecture and history. Some charges will apply, as described below.

The basic cost of the short break will be £525 per person based on two sharing a standard twin/double room. For all other room types, please contact me for the options available. Please see below for a more detailed itinerary and what is included in the price.

YOUR ITINERARY

Monday – will find us leaving from behind the Dorking Halls at 8.45am, with a view to avoiding the worst of the rush hour traffic and ensuring a relaxing journey as we head to Stratford-upon-Avon. It’s probably not necessary to extol the beauty of Stratford-upon-Avon. Here we will break our journey for a couple of hours. Enough time to enjoy the festivities and grab a bite to eat, if people so wish. We will then continue our journey to Alvaston Hall, which will be our home whilst away. With time to check-in and acquaint ourselves with the surroundings, dinner, and of course the evening entertainment, will follow.

Tuesday & Thursday– as mentioned, we will have two chances to visit Liverpool. Join us on one or both of the trips as they will feature different aspects of the city. One visit will focus on the strong music history the city is famous for, whilst the other will encompass the industrial success, explore the culture, religion and architecture as well as touching on the sporting rivalry and the wider artistic contributions the city has made beyond music. Both trips will have a cost element to them, but this will just cover any entry fees and the service of a guide, should we have one.

Wednesday – leaving at around 9.30am, we set off for our day in Chester. This delightful city has plenty to offer and, subject to there being sufficient interest, we could take a boat ride along the River Dee or have a walking tour to learn all about the city. If free time is the preferred option, then both the boat ride and walking tour can still be done individually for those that want to. In addition, both the museum and Cathedral with their Christmas Tree Festival can be visited free of charge. They do, of course, welcome donations. A Christmas Market should also be in place, as well as the award-winning daily market.

Friday – leaving the hotel at 9am, we will stop at Melton Mowbray for a couple of hours over lunchtime. Often referred to as the foodie capital of the country, visiting Melton Mowbray on the way home means we might even be able to take something home for tea! Famed for its pork pies, visit Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe, enjoy the wider food offering at Melton Borough Market and sample any festive offerings with Christmas just around the corner. Heading home at around 1.30pm, we will take a short comfort stop en route before arriving back in Dorking at around 6pm.
